Rain

Once upon an Autumn day,
I peered upon a sky so gray.
It made me not sad.
In fact, I was glad.
For rain was coming my way.

I knew not if it would be a storm of thunder,
That would tear limb and tree asunder.
All I knew was rain would abound
To make life spring from the ground,
Bringing joy from under.

Then the shower would go away,
For it had done its work for the day.
So man would come out
The plants would sprout,
And the children would come out to play.
